The rest of the time Nancy has Inner Demons such being a stereotypical Diva taking advantage of a lonely Hunk and using his body for her advantages. Nancy barely has time to scold Joseph or give him advice before leaving for work again. It was necessary for Minh to help Joseph cope through Puberty. However, with John living on the outskirts of town, and with Nancy away at work all the time, he is left at home with Dale, who at times ridicules Joseph or accompanies him to commit crimes, or otherwise places Joseph in danger. John and Nancy are responsible parental figures in Joseph's life. Later, John Redcorn relied on The Hills to check up on Joseph. Their son clearly resembles John Redcorn, who watched Joseph grow up without needing to explain why he is there. They had a child together, of which Dale seems to be in complete denial about. She found a Masseur and a Shaman that helped her get through the very long hours at her job. She married Dale Gribble, who ended up practicing Celibacy. Her mother had been having affairs with Men which is part of why Nancy ended up doing the same. She is friends with her neighbours Peggy and Minh, and to a lesser extent Luanne.

In this older style of flashback he looks just like Dale does now, however even in the older depictions he’s still called "Bug." Most likely, this is another instance of a character being retconned in appearance and personality as the series progressed.Nancy Gribble, or Nancy Hicks Gribble as her Stage Name, is a News Anchor for the Local News. In a flashback Dale has earlier in the series, his father can be seen giving him a ventriloquist's dummy for his birthday (much to Dale's chagrin.) He can also be seen in a flashback early in the series about looking after their sons in the " The Order of the Straight Arrow". However, after he sees Bug kiss Juan Pedro, Dale realizes that his dad was telling the truth and is perfectly fine with it. Dale then goes to the rodeo to inform the men there his dad is monitoring them. When Bug first tries to tell Dale he's gay and that Juan Pedro is his partner, Dale again hates him after he is convinced his dad's a government agent. Years later, with help from Hank, the two reconcile their differences. Upon seeing Dale, he grabbed the nearest woman he could find, who turned out to Nancy, and kissed her as a cover-up because he was insecure at the time and didn't want Dale to find out he was gay. As it turns out he was using this as a cover up for his homosexuality because at the time he was flirting with a gay Filipino caterer who was part of the wedding party crew and was about to kiss him. He was hated by Dale for years after Bug grabbed his son's wife, Nancy, and kissed her at their wedding. Bug also has a boyfriend named Juan Pedro.
